Pricing questions
What counts as a "design"?
Each pot or flower bed counts as one active design. A property with 8 pots is 8 designs. Only ACTIVE designs count — archiving a finished season frees its slots without deleting anything, and deleting works too.
What happens when I run out of design slots?
You can archive designs from past seasons, which frees their slots and costs nothing. An archived design is kept exactly as it is — you can open it, print both sheets, export it and duplicate it into a new design — it simply cannot be edited any more, and it stops counting against your plan. Designs become archivable a year after they were created. Restoring one needs a free slot. Or add a Boost, or move up a plan, and nothing has to move at all.
What happens when I hit my AI limit?
Nothing breaks. You can keep creating and editing designs — AI actions and preview images simply pause until your next billing period, or you can add a Boost or move up a plan to carry on straight away.
Can I change plans?
Yes, from Plan & Billing in the app. Moving UP takes effect straight away and you pay only the prorated difference for the days left in the period. Moving DOWN — a smaller plan, or fewer Boosts — takes effect at your next renewal, so you keep the capacity you have already paid for until the period ends. A scheduled change can be canceled any time before it happens. Switching between monthly and annual always waits for your next renewal, in both directions, and so does a plan change made in the same step. If you need more capacity now, upgrade first and switch afterwards.
What if I just need a bit more, not a bigger plan?
Add a Boost to any plan for $29 a month, from Plan & Billing in the app — no plan change, no sales call. Each Boost adds 25 AI preview images, 50 AI actions, 50 active designs and 1 extra user, every month — it refreshes with your plan rather than being a one-off top-up. Adding is prorated and starts immediately; removing takes effect at your next renewal. During a free trial you can have up to 5 Boosts, billed with your first payment when the trial ends, and more once it has ended.
Do I need a card for the free trial?
Yes — we take a card to start the trial, but you are not charged for the plan during it. Cancel before the 7 days are up and you pay nothing for it.
Is annual billing cheaper?
Yes — an annual plan is ten months' price for twelve months of service, so you get 2 months free. Professional is $199 a month, or $1,990 for the year — a saving of $398. Your AI allowance still refreshes every month, not once a year. You can switch a monthly plan to annual any time from Plan & Billing in the app; the annual price starts at your next renewal.
What happens if I delete my account?
Everything is erased — designs, images and logins — and your subscription is canceled immediately. You pay for the time you had at the ordinary monthly rate, and part-months are not refunded, so deleting mid-month gives up the rest of it. If you only want to stop paying, cancel instead and keep the time you have already bought. We always refund anything we have not delivered, such as an expert setup session that never took place. A renewal dated November 12, 2026 (Central Time) or later is not reversed once it has been charged, unless you had canceled after that period began and before it was charged (and had paid for nothing else in that period, such as an upgrade or a Boost), so cancel before your renewal date if you do not want another period; if one catches you out, email hello@trytrowel.com and we will look at it, though a refund is our decision and not a promise. A renewal dated before then is still reversed in full if you deactivate or delete within 48 hours of the charge, unless you have added Boosts or upgraded since (the first charge after a free trial is not a renewal). On an annual plan the two free months are a discount for committing to the year, so if you leave early we charge the months you did use at the ordinary monthly rate and refund the rest.
