Trowel is the web version of a tool that has been planning real container plantings, season after season, for a working garden design company. The AI review, the row-grouped image prompts and the purchasing exports are the same behaviors — rebuilt, not reimagined.

▸Do I need to know anything about AI to use Trowel?
Not at all. Trowel handles the AI for you — your first save generates a photorealistic preview image, your design review updates as you work, and one click fills in plant attributes. After that first preview, new images are one click, so nothing is ever generated without you asking. You just design.
▸Can multiple designers on my team use it?
Yes. Professional includes 3 team members, Business 10, and Premier is unlimited — and every plan lets you add a Boost for $29/month, self-serve, which adds a user along with more designs, AI actions and preview images. Each person has their own login with a role — Designer, Senior Designer, Manager, or Admin — and admins can customize what each role is allowed to do.
▸What happens to my designs if I cancel?
Your designs are always yours. You can export your data at any time from the Settings page, and your designs stay in your account after cancellation — you can sign back in to view and export them whenever you like.
▸Does it work for flower beds as well as pots?
Yes. Trowel detects flower beds from the location name and adjusts both the AI review and image generation accordingly — different density expectations, different photography style.
▸Can I export designs for client presentations?
Yes. Each design can be printed as a PDF showing the planting diagram, AI-generated image, plant list, and design details. Perfect for client presentations and install crews.
▸How does the AI image generation work?
Trowel sends the plant placement data to Google's Gemini AI. It understands pot shape, dimensions, season, back/middle/front rows, and your design notes — and generates a photorealistic photo in 15–30 seconds. The first one happens on its own; every one after that is a Regenerate you ask for, showing how many you have left.
