Getting started with Trowel

Design. Preview. Plant. Here's everything you need to go from sign-in to your first client-ready container design in about five minutes.

1

Go to the sign-in page and enter the email and temporary password from your invite email. Once you're in, you can change your password anytime under Settings → Change Password.

2

Add a few plants to your library

Open Plants in the left menu and add the plants you work with (or import a list). These become the building blocks for your designs — you only set this up once.

3

Create your first design

Click + New Design on the Designs page. Pick the pot shape and size, then drag plants onto the canvas. Add AI Design Notes (what the AI should know) and Client Notes (kept private from the AI) as needed.

4

Save — then ask for a preview

Every save gets a free quick review score. When you want to see the planting, press Generate AI Image for a concept preview of your container — an illustration of the plan, not a photograph — so you and your client can picture it before a single plant is potted. The button shows how many previews your plan has left before it spends one, and Regenerate works the same way after you make changes.

5

Review, approve & export

Depending on your role, you can run an AI review for a quick quality score, submit a design for a manager to approve, and export a shopping list for purchasing and install.

The most important part: tell us everything

This is a beta, so your feedback shapes the product. Look for the Feedback button in the bottom-right corner of every screen. Tap it any time to report:

Something broke

A bug, error, or anything that didn't work.

An idea

Something you wish Trowel did.

Anything else

Questions, confusion, first impressions.

Don't worry about writing it up perfectly — it automatically records the page you're on. Just tell us what happened.

Stuck or have a question?

Just reply to your invite email — a real person will help you get going.
